Staff and guests of Samherji are the brightest stars in Sopot
Time flies! Three years have now passed since Samherji’s annual celebration in Sopot, Poland.
That means it’s time to do it all over again, to come together in joy at this beautiful place, and to enjoy the hospitality and professionalism of our local hosts.
Last but not least, we will create precious memories together for the future.
Samherji’s annual celebrations in Sopot have always been a success, as the conditions there are ideal, and a spirit of ambition prevails.
A dedicated team has carefully planned every aspect of the event, with the goal of making
every moment as enjoyable as possible and bringing us even closer together.
Dear guests of the annual celebration!
We are certain that togetherness and joy will be at the forefront in Poland, thanks to an outstanding team of professionals who have set the stage and excellent musicians who will accompany us.
Samherji’s staff and guests are, of course, the brightest stars of all !

Countdown to the festival!
The departure for Sopot, Poland, where Samherji’s annual celebration will be held, is getting closer! Time is flying, and there are many details to consider. Preparations are going well, and in the coming weeks, you can expect more updates on our Facebook page. We encourage you to stay tuned.
There will be direct flights from both Akureyri and Keflavík to GdaÅ„sk and back. Travel documents will be provided by the travel agency Verdi in Akureyri.
Each passenger is allowed one checked bag, up to 23 kg, and one carry-on bag, up to 8 kg. The carry-on bag must not exceed 55x40x20 cm in size.
Below is the current travel schedule, which will be further detailed as final arrangements are confirmed:
• Groups 1 and 2 – Ships (except Snæfell), office G30, shipping services, and UA office will travel on Wednesday, April 2, from Akureyri and return the same route on Sunday, April 6, with two flight options:
- First flight: Departure at 10:00, return at 14:00
- Second flight: Departure at 16:30, return at 18:30
• Groups 3, 4, and 5 – Útgerðarfélag Akureyringa, UA Laugar, Snæfell, and Northern Aquaculture will travel from Akureyri on Thursday, April 3, with two flight options:
- Departure at 07:30 and 10:15
- Returning on Monday, April 7, at 12:30 and 14:00
- Southern Aquaculture and the Reykjavík office will fly from Keflavík on Thursday, April 3, at 09:30 and return on Monday, April 7, at 13:20
• Group 6 – Dalvík Land Processing will travel on Friday, April 4, at 07:45 and return on Tuesday, April 8, at 14:00.

The Samherji‘s annual festival in Poland will be spectacular in every way. Prepairing is the biggest factor and costs a lot of planing so it‘s better to have a good team who has good organizational skills.
Rafal Starobrat is our captain in Poland but he‘s the main man behind the scene regarding the festival. He did it well last time 2018 so there was never a question to get him back to join us now.
„My focus is now entierly on the festival and has been since March. We started in Covid but now when the big day is coming, everything is getting ready and this week we‘ve been working on the menu and finalizing hiring staff for the night. The to do list is of course endless, we are also working on compiling tourist attractions, services and entertainments but I‘m very calm even though there‘s a lot to do. Everything is taking care of that‘s for sure.“
Rafal says working for Samherji is unique.

Dziesięć Zloty proszę!
In Poland, the currency is Zloty.
Some people might be wondering if it's better to bring currency with you to Poland or if you can only use the payment cards. We know it's easy to pay for goods and services with credit cards. However, it can always be good to have some cash with you just in case.
There are ATMs in many places, so it should be quite easy to withdraw money, but then it's also necessary to have the PIN number clear.
The Polish is used to receiving a tip if the customer is happy, but there is no fixed rule about what the tip should be, however it's common to tip about 10-15%. The currency in Poland is the Zloty, but many people might think it's the Euro since Poland is in the European Union.
Prices in Poland are generally very favorable, so you can make a good deal, but the Zloty exchange rate today is about 30 Icelandic krónur.
